Unlocked doors

Early in the morning, Susanne is woken up by the police, her flat is searched and her laptop is confiscated. Susanne hasn't a clue about the allegations. Child pornography has been downloaded and distributed using her internet connection. After the search, Susanne's laptop is taken away. Someone else must have misused Susanne's insecure WLAN connection. Susanne gradually recovers from the shock. She encrypts her WLAN and changes her router password.

TIP: Encrypt your WLAN

Check whether your wireless network (WLAN) is enrypted. If not, set up encryption using the manual for the device. The encryption tools are WPA2, WPA or WEP (an older standard). You can also get online help from the device manufacturer's support site or via their hotline. Switch the WLAN device off when it is not in use.
